Event

Gathering under the fullest moon with loved ones and making mooncakes with ceramics

Asset A

3D printing

Instead of going with the slip cast route, I was inspired by silicone molds used in making actual mooncakes. While factoring the shrinkage of clay in, common molds are turning the mooncakes too small after firing. With the knowledge of working with 3D, I thought this would be an opportunity to make custom design and print them out.

Mold Material

I had to spend some bucks on testing the silicone material. Some of them were either too hard or too soft, resulting in the clay having troubles coming off.

The notion of the moon festival is to spend time together and enjoy the fullness of life. I have always enjoyed sharing my process.
